CSYA is an architecture and design studio based in Singapore,

with a wide range of works that span across the region and beyond.

Formerly known as Chan Sau Yan Associates and CSYA Studio,

the studio is founded by Chan Sau Yan Sonny in 1993.

Since the beginning of the studio's inception, 

we are committed to design with considerations on climate and context,

and believe in the active collaboration with all stakeholders

to achieve design excellence.


Chan Sau Yan Sonny

Founder & Director

Born in Kuala Lumpur and educated in the UK,

Sonny graduated from Northern Polytechnic of London

and completed his post-graduate in Tropical Architecture

from Architectural Association in the 1960s.

Upon his return to Singapore, Sonny began his practice with

Kumpulan Akitek for 29 years before leaving as a Senior Partner.

Across the decades of practice, Sonny has also been highly involved in grooming the younger generation of Architects

as an external tutor, examiner and adjunct associate professor in the School of Architecture, National University of Singapore.

As an acknowledgement of his contribution to the Architectural industry in Singapore, Sonny was awarded the prestigious President's Design Award in 2011, as the Designer of the Year.

Yong Philip


Upon graduation with Masters of Architecture

from National University of Singapore,

Philip joined the studio in 2001,

and became a Registered Architect in 2005.

Since then, Philip has overseen several award-winning projects

ranging from residences, hotels, and commercial developments,

located both locally and internationally.

In 2010, Philip was selected as one of the award recipients

for Urban Redevelopment Authority's 20 under 45: 2nd Edition.
